Interesting observations, part 1

Just some things I found peculiar while taking apart the car...

Oil pressure sensor wire was "fixed" (Original broken wire is still there under the crankshaft pulley):

Someone had glued the coolant reservoir to its mounting bracket, how elegant:

Dismantling begins

As of today, I have disassembled the car quite a lot.

One of my goals is to take out the engine support bar and basically remove all the rust I can find. Then I'll install a lot prettier engine support bar that I had sandblasted and painted.

Issues

The car has some "issues"...

Saggy and stained headliner is not my first concern, although it will need some caring love at some point...

Also, the rust spots and bubbling paint on the surface are actually not on top of my todo-list. These are:

Well, at least I'll have no problems using my spare time for the winter months.

Summer 2015

Car worked beautifully and I drove it ~2100 miles (3300 km). On September I decided it was time for winter break for the car. Total mileage is ~132500 (213000 km). Fuel consumption was 8.99 - 10.33 l / 100 km.

Another one for spare parts

In december 2015 I actually bought another 740, to use for spare parts. It had failed inspection and didn't run.

I bought some parts for it...

... and a good transmission support bar. Other parts in the citric acid bath are Volvo 850 rear bumper mounts.

I did end up buying a used but working LH2.4 ECU to make the car finally run.

Now this white "freezer" just sits in the old cowshed waiting for it to be fully repaired or used for parts.

12.10.2012, 116380 ml. Timing belt + tensioner + water pump + v-belts. Coolant, engine oil + filter.

17.10.2012, 116517 ml. MAF Bosch.

24.1.2013, 118178 ml. Front brake discs + pads, wheel bearings.

29.4.2015, 130500 ml. Spark plugs (Bosch), ignition cables (Bougicord), distributor cap + rotor (Bosch), engine oil (Motox FullSynth 5w-40) + filter (Volvo)

30.4.2015, 130500 ml. Exhaust pipe behind downpipe. Front silencer (Biltema) + middle silencer (Motonet/Fenno) + over axle pipe / rear silencer / rear pipe (Walker)

5.6.2015, 130500 ml. Welding front passenger floor. Rear brake discs / hand brake shoes / mounting kit (Biltema) + adjustment screws (Motonet). Inspection.

24.6.2015, 130800 ml. Rear drivers side brake caliper + pads + hose + dust shield.
